Note FX Series - Combining Note FX To Create a Song
Studio One reminds of how the Spreadsheet suite was evolved. One program could do many different tasks. Lotus added a communications and word processing to their spreadsheet that could create graphs of data. Other companies began their own versions of the multiple role packaged program. Now, look at Studio One DAW that can edit audio in the song page, master the songs in the project page and do live backing track support on the show page. PreSonus keeps expanding its capabilities. I love that.
I’m just now able to watch the show, 9pm MDT. My children are in Texas near Houston and their power is restored. Sorry your attendance is low tonight. I do watch later if I can’t make the Live Show.
Thank you Jonny! That's a great and detailed explanation especially considering I only verbally explained the chord and melody!!! Im going to have to make notes on the modulating and try them out.. Go U!!! 👍 you were also right in I may want to make use of the Bb strident feel to the Em sad which really fits with the song as it's all about losing someone (passing) then having a dream where they visit and realizing they're always with you.. Thank you for your insights.. spot on!!! 😎🙏🕊️✨
This storm covered the whole country it’s took me 4 years to find this After this storm all changed in the world CERN
Nice Studio old friend!
On Vacation, still catching the replay!
Thanks, although it's now a 7 years old vid, it helped me a lot :)
Hey! I am glad some of my older videos are still doing their job! Thanks.
Sorry I missed you live! Always enjoy what you do. Thanks!
This is only offline?
No. Workspaces are within Studio One+. But, the integration in Studio One is amazing.
Ok I am so left behind for this but is there any way to edit the recorded aound the way you want it? Say, like if you want to create a kick sound from any recorded sound
You provided a lot of discussion about connecting with tunecore. Maybe I'll go Google to find out what that even is sometime. Funny that a brief overview wasn't included.
I cannot include full details of every feature in a major update, and keep the video to a reasonable length. So, some things have to be either summarised or omitted. There are fortunately plenty of other Studio One videos that cover that integration on the PreSonus channel.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios A sentence or two summarizing what the service is would perhaps be the most important point about that particular feature.
Watching the replay Jonny. Couldn’t make the live show.
Awesome video Jonny, appreciate the effort, just subscribed! I have two computers that I use for working projects and creating within Studio One 6.6, so two activations. One computer I use is for creating ideas and is in a different physical location than my mix station computer. If I want to share files between those two activations, how do I set that up via the collaboration tools without using a third party option like Google Drive? Can I establish a Project space that I "send files" to that I can access from both activations? Thanks.
Yes. Just create a workspace for yourself. Acess it from the two computers with the same login.
I'm getting to grips with tri tone subs slowly (I'm a bear of very little brain) but I was able to follow your explanation and examples Jonny which gives me confidence that it is sinking in at last! I find that watching several different people explain the same concept helps to cement it in my mind. Thank you.
Thanks for the help re: missing files after copying to SSD external drive for transfer to a different PC. The upshot is that the transfer is fine it was just sod's law that the first song I tried to open reported missing files because... the files ARE missing! That particular song reports the same missing files on the original machine. Other songs load fine. It was because I'd never done this before and the first song I tried didn't work I immediately went down the wrong path of thinking there was something wrong. I should have had more faith, and tested more examples before jumping to conclusions. I think this is what they call in the IT business an "I D 10 T" problem! LOL. Thanks again for the help Jonny.
You are most welcome! Glad I could help you.
Absolutely fantastic video mate! Perfectly explained.
Glad it helped you!
Is it powerful tho? Lol
Yes. LOL
All these S1 channels keep saying you get a perpetual license at the end of Hybrid, but fail to mention that it's not a proper pertual license. You get a non-updating perpetual license, which means you're stuck with that version (and what ever bugs it might have come with). If you want an actual perpetual license you have to pay a "pro-to-pro" upgrade fee to be able to upgrade that non-updating perpetual license. Hybrid is a decent deal if you don't already own a perpetual Pro license, but if you're only goal is to own a proper perpetual license you're actually better off buying that straight up on one of the sales throughout the year. For those of us that have already paid for the full version this update is very lack luster imo, and I think people have a right to speak up in fear of what might come next. They also removed the option to buy any of the VST products that have been part of subscription (not just the new Synth). If I just want the Synth, I have to pay $180 to own it for just 1 year, and not only that, after one year I lose it unless I pay another $180. That's just not value at all. The amount of good stuff I could get for $180 right now is staggering compared imo. This is in my honest opinion a clear indication that Presonus wants to go down the subscription only route eventually - which is no surprise after the Fender acusition to be honest. I'll keep using my S1 6 Pro version, but I've already crossgraded to Cubase as well. For now I'll be using both (it's good to know more DAWs anyways imo), but if this is the route Presonus decides to take I'm out. I hope it's not.
Perpetual licenses are still available, as are upgrades in the same way you have always been able to get them. And, PreSonus having a subscription model is NOT new, and NOT because of Fender. PreSonus started the subscription model back in 2020, when v5 was released; and there have been MANY subscription only features added, naturally. That's how subscriptions work. shop.presonus.com is temporarily closed while they migrate to a new platform and integrate it directly into the main presonus.com site. In the meantime, PreSonus add-ons are, and will continue to be, available via 3rd party retailers. If you are not interested in the subscription, then you are not really affected. You can upgrade as usual, but you need to keep in mind that there will always be some subscription only features, just as there have been for the past 4 years. The addition of a perpetual license for Hybrid is in direct response to feature requests from subscription members who wanted a perpetual license at the end of their annual membership, since previously, when the membership comes to an end, you lost everything, including Studio One. This license will continue to receive maintenance updates to fix bugs in the version that the membership ended on; but it will not receive feature updates that add new features. The choice is yours what you want to do.
Never said you can't buy perpetual licenses any more. I said there's a difference between the one you buy for $400 (which has free .x upgrades), and the one you get from Hybrid+ (which doesn't). And that part clearly isn't well communicated (when looking at all the confusion on reddit, youtube, etc.). People keep calling them by the same name, "perpetual license", when they are 2 different kinds. Even on the Presonus youtube channel there's a comment from Presonus own account saying quote: "Studio One+ Hybrid includes a perpetual license at less than half the cost", without mentioning that you have to pay another $150 to upgrade if you want .x updates. That's obviously bound to cause confusion. Many people are going to belive they are getting the same license from Hybrid+ as they are by paying the $400 straight up, and they won't be happy in a year when they finally find out. I really feel like this part should be communicated a lot better. Never said subscription was new, or introduced with Fender either. I said this latest update (where a major selling point, the Architect, is subscriber only) feels a lot to me like the first step towards a subscription only model. And yea, if that happens, I'm definitely blaming Fender for going down that path. I really hope it doesn't happen (cause I do love Studio One), and you probably have a better idea about that direction than me (being in the company), but I'm just saying my feeling as a paying customer is that of uncertainty, and it looks like I'm far from alone. You're right about the choice being mine. As is the choice of being at least a little bit critical when a company I've supported with (for me) a ton of money seems to be going down a path I'm not comfortable with them taking. If you don't like that, you're obviously free to delete my comments as well. Would love some links to those 3rd party retailers selling Architect though. I can't find any.
@@thomasreehjelm8862 - I won't be deleting your comments at all. In my opinion, I am going to spend my money with PreSonus anyway. Does it really matter how and when they get it? Not really. There are benefits to subscription in that I get everything for Studio One for just $179 per year, and I get upped to the next major version without having to pay extra. OR I could just purchase an upgrade and still have to purchase extra add-ons. When I COULD have them all in the subscription. As for subscription exclusive things - in the four years of the subscription, there have been many, many things that have been exclusive. The last major update for all the instruments was Deep Flight One, which was exclusive to members a few years ago. I do not recall complaints about that. Maybe I am wrong, and I just did not see any. There are always going to be exclusive things for members. It's how memberships work for anything - like a Gym, a VIP club, National Geographic etc. In any case. You are entitled to your opinion. And, you have choice over how you get Studio One. You do you! I am totally happy with whatever choice you make.
Watching the replay because I couldn’t make the live performance, again. Thanks Jonny for doing what you do.
If your a Studio One Pro Member please dont fall for the CON... the option to sign up for Plus and at the end of the year you can get Studio One 7. Update for no cost.. The Trick is THE PERPETUAL Studio One 7 will no longer update unless you sub... I THOUGHT STUDIO ONE WAS A GOOD COMPANY IN THE PAST BUT NOW THERE TURNING INTO TRASH!!!!! CORP TRICKS!
Studio One for Pro members is starting to SUCK!!!! its starting to be a money GRAB$$$$
I disagree. You can still get Studio One Professional in the same way you have always been able to. All that has changed is that Studio One+ Annual is now called Hybrid, and at the end of the 12 months, you get a perpetual license. This was in reaponse to customer requests who did not like losing Studio One when their subscription ends. As for Lead Architect, this is certainly not the only time an instrument or soundset has been only for subscribers. Deep Flight One, and all the other monthly soundsets over the last 4 years have been exclusive to members of Studio One+. It used to be called PreSonus Sphere. PreSonus has been in the subscription game for 4 years.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios NON updatable license ... those small updates for pro owners are very important. they fell in the same hole as pro tools. anyway, I moved to Cubase 13.
@@BayanChacra - Why? If you are a perpetual license holder, literally nothing has changed. You can still upgrade as before. Perpetual licenses are NOT going away. If you don't want the subscription, don't get it.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios you confused me now, so as a pro owner, do I still get the sub point updates (for example from 6.6 to 6.7 etc, until V7 is released to pay and upgrade again)?
@@BayanChacra - If you are a perpetual license holder, and not a subscriber, it works exactly like it always has done. You still get the updates. It is ONLY the perpetual license that Hybrid SUBSCRIBERS get at the end of the 12 months that do not get the feature updates, but they DO get bug fixes. Wen v7 comes out, you can either subscribe to Hybrid, or you can just upgrade as usual. The choice is yours. All PreSonus did was actually provide a perpetual license for Annual subscribers after they had requested it. PreSonus listens to customers and responds.
BEWARE OF TUNE CORE, READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU AGREE AND SIGNING
You should do that with any contract. Including the PreSonus EULA.
Bad decision S1 👎
I love studio one. I just don’t like that you have to keep paying for newer versions especially if you purchase Studio One Professional. Just saying 🤷🏾♂️
I understand, but with upgrades, you have always had to do that if you wanted to stay current. That has always been the thing since 2009.
I think presonus are reasonable. Free updates from a .0 release until the next major release
Question. Does the person you collaborate with have to have studio one + in order for this to work?
The owner of the workspace needs to be, yes. Collaborators do not need to be. Although, for the best experience, it certainly helps.
Hey Johnny, does S1 now use all of the Performance and Efficiency cores on M1 Max chips?
Not really sure about that as I do not have an M1/2 Mac.
Boring!!!!
Lead Architect looks to have huge potential as an instrument but for me, the presets and musicloops are largely underwhelming YMMV of course. The design is redolent of the 'Play' series of instruments from Native Instruments except you can blend three sources instead of two
Is it just an amalgamation of the previous ARP Chorder and Repeater etc., with a new front end?
Who in the world wants to upload his song straight to Tunecore… useless features.. while we are still waiting on tons of useful ones…like modulations, real bus freeze… and this emphasis on Dolby Atmos just turns me off
Well, the good thing about both of those is - you do not need to use them if you don't want to. The Atmos features will only ever appear if you use the Surround Mix template. The Tunecore client will only run if you actually select it to. Otherwise it will not appear. If you don't want to mix in Atmos, then don't; if you don't want to use Tunecore, then use another service. These are just new options. Use them, or don't. The choice is yours.
Yep, Presonus tends to be shunning the perpetual license owners. Really sucks! Thank you Presonus.
Read this: www.presonus.com/en-US/studio-one-plus-hybrid.html No Shunning taking place.
@@JonnyLipshamStudiosdo you pay an extra $180 after the 12 months subscription?
@@ELLIOT8209 - Only if you are continuing your subscription do you pay again. If you are referring to the Hybrid.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios so to cancel sub and keep the perpetual license after the 12 months I pay nothing extra?
@@ELLIOT8209 - Is there a fee for cancelling a Studio One+ Hybrid plan? No. You can cancel your Studio One+ Hybrid subscription at anytime. You will receive a perpetual license to the version of Studio One Pro available at the end date of the subscription period for which you've already paid. You will also have complete access to Studio One Pro's core library of content-including Ampire, Analog Delay, Red Light Dist, and more. When your Studio One+ Hybrid plan ends, you will lose access to all Studio One+ exclusive tools, add-ons, and features that fall outside of a Studio One Pro perpetual license package. There is nothing further to pay, unless you choose to continue the subscription.
I’m convinced… I’ll make the purchase.
Not very impressed at the exclusion of S1 pro full license owners to sound architect🙁 it kinda sucks
Lead Architect is a Studio One add-on NOT included in Studio One Artist or Professional, just like these other Studio One add-ons: Audio Batch Converter, Presence XT Editor, PreSonus Symphonic Orchestra, Deep Flight ONE, Ampire High Density, Channel Strip Collection, CTC-1, Retro Mix Legends, ... to name a few. Don't complain there are add-ons NOT included with your version of Studio One. There have always been add-ons not included in any perpetual version.
@@LunarBuzz - No idea. I highly doubt it.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios the difference is you can’t buy “lead Architech“. You have to subscribe. But the other add-ons you can buy separately. Not cool.
@@LunarBuzz - Well, let's not try and predict the future, and focus on making music.
@@JonnyLipshamStudiosand that is the problem right there and everyone knows it but won’t say it for obvious reasons.
why no sound architect for Studio 6 license owners??..Cakewalk used to give updates to both owners and monthly subscribers.
It's probably an add-on not a stock plug-in I guess
@@mrrazz7178no..if you don’t subscribe then you don’t get it plain and simple
@@BR_READDY225 that's what I'm saying . It's like other studio one plus add-ons.
STUDIO ONE IS STARTING TO SUCK!!!!
I love that Studio One is constantly updating and improving. But... why only Tunecore? No Distrokid? And... still no BPM mapping without relying on Melodyne. Mapping a free tempo is really a pain with Melodyne. Logic's BPM mapper is something to definitely copy down the line. As for the new instrument? I'm pretty underwhelmed by what I'm hearing so far.
In order to have a Distrokid client,, you would also have to have a partnership with them, and an API. We do not have these, but we did team up with Tune Core. They have really now prices - $17 per year, and Studio One+ members can also get 50% off that.
Not been the same development paths since the take over!
@@BraddersMusic Going to disagree. The Atmos update was incredible value considering they didn’t ask for more money on that one. And with this new Apple update it’s finally complete. I don’t think there’s another company out there that would give such a boost as a simple update and not a “new version”.
@@Tyrell_Corp2019 Yes from PreSonus it’s good value but experts in the field seem to thinks Atmos is only for the big audio engineering companies, like say Apple etc. Too expensive to implement to the smaller business.
@@JonnyLipshamStudiosalso you think tunecore was a great idea too?? Do you know who they are?? Do you realize the backlash they are receiving?? So soundcloud...now TUNECORE.....you're a total pro
Maybe I missed it, but it's notable that the new instrument is a Studio One + exclusive
Holy cow... an update! woo hoo!
Wahoooooo, I love studio one !!
Still no “ group plugin parameters like in pro tools and Cubase ? “. With atmos it’s a MUST simple feature. Let alone linking guitar sims that are left and right and dialing them in together. Ugh.
I seen u post this on another video...elaborate!
Group plugin..to accomplish what exactly
@@LossLeadashere's an example. You place a console emulation on every channel, let's say the Slate digital VTC or Front Daw. You want to change all instances of the channel emulation from an SSL to Neve then currently you have to change each channel manually. With a group feature you could change one channel and all others would follow
@@stupidusername38 S1 is serious with multitasking...but you shouldn't have to put that on all tracks just add it on the bus vocals then u can do it to all the busses, then on the master track add it before mastering to give it that analog feel.
Happy Easter!
I think I am here .
No. You are definitely there.
It's like a Christmas tree 🤣
@Jonny Lipsham Studios Great show! Thanks for taking my question!
Where did you get the S1 shortcut keyed? I have an overlay on my Mac kybd.
Got it from Editors Keys.
Thank you for guesting!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not only do you have a very nice setup, but you use it to it's purpose very well indeed.
What type of treatment is that behind your monitors?
You mean in the corners? Just some bass traps to deal with some of the low end build up.
@@JonnyLipshamStudios Yes, but what kind? What are the made of? Did you build them yourself, or buy them?
It's just foam from a cheap room kit.
